Hedge funds in sprint finish for record-breaking returns in 2017

Hedge funds are on track for their best annual revenue since 2013 with average returns of 7.7 percent, according to eVestment research.

The industry boasted returns of 0.47 percent in November, marking the thirteenth consecutive month of positive returns.

In its monthly report, the software provider noted that Asia-focused funds “in general are performing exceptionally well”.

India-focused funds returned 27.33 percent year to date and 1.77 percent in November.

Asia funds (excluding-Japan-focused funds) recorded 19.74 percent returns year to date and 0.72 percent in November.

Japan-focused funds returned 1 percent last month and 12.64 percent so far this year.

eVestment research revealed that equity-related strategies are significantly outperforming their peers in the market.

According to eVestment, activists, long/short and quant equity strategies are producing average returns at least 300 basis points higher than all other primary strategies in 2017.
