Elias Belasri is leaving his position as trader director, head of prime financing solutions, Americas, at Societe Generale (SG) Americas Securities.

Belasri spent nearly 12 years with the firm, serving in various capacities in London and New York.

In his most recent position, he managed a portfolio of futures commission merchants (FCM) assets, and implemented financing solutions across equities and fixed income for hedge funds and institutional clients.

He joined SG Corporate and Investment Banking (SGCIB) as trader associate, cross asset secured financing, EMEA, in 2012.

Prior to that, Belasri worked as a trader analyst at BNP Paribas for more than a year.

He earned a master’s degree in finance from HEC Paris and in engineering from Arts et Metiers ParisTech.

Upon his career change, Belasri comments: "It’s been over a decade with SG, where I’ve consistently evolved in a space between trading and desk development or automation, and I’ve made strong contributions to the success of several desks across regions — including equity derivatives, financing, securities lending, and prime brokerage.

"It feels like it’s now the right time for a new challenge in the US or Europe."
