J.P. Morgan has implemented its Taiwan-listed securities collateral pledge solution, becoming the “first” global triparty platform to enable Taiwan-listed securities to be mobilised as pledged collateral.
The development follows enhancements to Taiwan’s foreign institutional investor (FINI) pledge framework in March 2026, allowing market participants to pledge Taiwan-listed securities as collateral while maintaining the assets within Taiwan’s domestic market infrastructure.
By unlocking Taiwan-listed holdings as a new source of collateral to support offshore securities financing and derivatives activities, this solution aims to help firms optimise liquidity and collateral management across global portfolios.
Robert Evans, head of Asia Pacific Tri-party at J.P. Morgan, says: “Our clients are looking for greater flexibility in how they mobilise assets across markets.
“This pledge solution connects Taiwan’s local market infrastructure with J.P. Morgan’s global triparty platform, giving clients a more efficient way to put their Taiwan-listed holdings to work.
“This is an important step in expanding the use of Taiwan-listed assets within the global collateral ecosystem.”
Hui-Chuan Tu, senior executive vice president at Taiwan Stock Exchange, comments: “The enhanced FINI collateral framework brings Taiwan’s market infrastructure more closely in line with international collateral management practices and supports greater connectivity with global institutional investors.
“We welcome the collaboration across the industry that has helped bring this transaction to fruition and look forward to the continued development of Taiwan’s capital markets.”
