Cboe Clear Europe has onboarded Terry O’Brien as senior director of sales and business development.
In the newly created role, O'Brien will be responsible for leading sales and business development efforts for Cboe Clear Europe's securities financing transactions (SFT) clearing service, working closely with market participants across the global securities lending ecosystem to drive adoption and support the continued growth of the platform.
Based in London, he will report to Tim Beckwith, head of commercial and business development.
Beckweth comments: “His extensive experience in the securities lending market and strong commercial leadership will be invaluable as we broaden participation and strengthen engagement across the industry.”
O'Brien brings more than 25 years of experience in the securities lending and post-trade markets. He joins Cboe Clear Europe from FIS, where he served as a sales executive focused on securities financing solutions.
Prior to that, he spent more than five years at Pirum, most recently as director of origination sales. Earlier in his career, he held positions at HSBC, J.P. Morgan, and Citigroup.
Jan Treuren, head of product at Cboe Clear Europe, states: “Since launching our SFT clearing service, we have expanded participation across the securities lending ecosystem, extended coverage into new asset classes and jurisdictions, and delivered the capital and operational efficiencies of central clearing to a growing range of market participants.
“Terry's appointment reflects our commitment to accelerating that momentum and supporting the next phase of growth as we continue to scale the service globally.”
O’Brien adds: “I'm excited to join Cboe Clear Europe at such an important stage in the development of its SFT clearing service.
“The business has already demonstrated the value central clearing can bring to the securities lending market, and I look forward to working with clients and partners across the industry to further increase adoption and unlock new opportunities for growth
