Cboe Clear US (CCUS) has received temporary registration from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to operate as a covered clearing agency.
The registration expands the firm’s clearing capabilities beyond its current authorities as a commodity futures trading commission (CFTC)-registered derivatives clearing organisation (DCO), allowing it to clear securities products in addition to futures and swaps products.
According to Cboe, CCUS will initially use its SEC registration to clear the firm's binary securities options tied to specified corporate key performance indicators (KPIs).
The products are scheduled to be listed on the Cboe Options Exchange and made available through Robinhood during the fourth quarter of 2026.
The development follows recent changes to the clearing house's regulatory framework and product scope.
CCUS recently received CFTC approval to clear margined futures products and continues to clear digital asset derivatives under its DCO designation.
Dale Michaels, head of Cboe Clear US, says: “Clearing plays a critical role in bringing innovation to market.
“These expanded capabilities position Cboe Clear US to become an innovation lane to support new products and meet evolving customer needs, while maintaining the rigorous risk management standards that are fundamental to our business.”
