Greece renews short selling ban
01 September 2015 Athens

Greece has renewed its ban on short selling until the end of September.
The latest ban, which will continue to exclude market makers and took effect today, was authorised by the Hellenic Capital Market Commission and is the sixth consecutive prohibition on short selling by the Greek regulator.
All exchange traded funds on the Athens Exchange and the Multilateral Trading Facility are included, as well as sales that are covered with subsequent intra-day purchases.
The European Securities and Markets Authority has approved of the continuation of the ban given the ongoing “adverse developments” in the Greek market.
