Legal & General has appointed Tony Blanchard as a securities lending specialist within the firm’s Global Markets team.

Based in London, he brings more than 17 years of industry experience to his new role, including across securities lending, FX, and financing.

Previously, Blanchard held a number of senior positions at BNP Paribas’ Securities Services, including as head of Market & Financing Services UK, and as global head of equity securities lending trading.

In his most recent role at BNP Paribas, Blanchard led business strategy, teams, and governance for a comprehensive product suite of securities lending, repo, FX, passive currency overlay, and financing solutions.

Commenting on the appointment, a representative of Legal & General says: “This follows the establishment of our Global Markets team under the leadership of Ed Wicks earlier this year, which has allowed us to bring all our market-facing activities under a single global structure, covering global trading, cash management, securities lending, and ETF capital markets.”
