Euroclear has appointed Guillaume Eliet as CEO of Euroclear Bank and Marie-Anne Haegeman as group chief risk officer.
The appointments have been ratified by the Euroclear SA/NV and Euroclear Holding Boards, with Eliet and Haegeman expected to take up the roles from 1 January 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.
Eliet will succeed Peter Sneyers, who will retire from Euroclear at the end of 2026.
He will join the Euroclear Bank Board and chair its management committee and will step down from the Boards of Euroclear SA/NV and Euroclear Holding.
Eliet is currently Euroclear’s group chief risk officer.
He joined Euroclear in 2017 as head of Regulatory, Compliance & Public Affairs and became CEO of the Euroclear Euroclear Settlement of Euronext-zone Securities (ESES) central securities depositories (CSDs) in 2021.
Before joining Euroclear, he held senior positions at the Autorité des Marchés Financiers in France.
Haegeman will succeed Eliet as the group chief risk officer.
In this role, she will join the ESA executive committee and the boards of Euroclear SA/NV and Euroclear Holding.
She is currently chief banking and network officer at Euroclear Bank and a member of its management committee.
She will also be stepping down from the Euroclear Bank management committee and the Euroclear bank board.
Haegeman brings expertise in banking and risk management, having previously held the position of chief risk officer of Euroclear Bank from 2018 to 2021 and a similar position at Belgian banking group, KBC, from 2014 to 2018.
She also serves as non-executive director at Argenta, a banking and insurance group, a role she has held since 2019.
The appointments are subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.
Valérie Urbain, CEO of Euroclear group, says: “These appointments reflect the strength of Euroclear’s internal talent and our disciplined approach to succession planning. Guillaume and Marie-Anne are experienced, highly respected leaders with a deep understanding of our business, our clients and our responsibilities as a financial market infrastructure.
“Their appointments will ensure continuity in two critical roles while bringing fresh perspectives to support Euroclear’s next chapter.”
